New Delhi. Heavy deployment of security personnel has been done on the Ghazipur border of Delhi-Uttar Pradesh, where the farmers of Uttar Pradesh have been opposing three agricultural laws for the last two months. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait also appeared on the site and said he would take up the issue of disrupting water and power supply from the site to the administration. Tikait has been named in the Delhi Police’s FIR for the 26 January violence. Tikait also made his presence known during the ‘Kisan Republic Parade’.
There was heavy deployment of Delhi Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Rapid Action Force in the area on Thursday afternoon. Police have also deployed drones for surveillance at the protest site in Ghazipur, where farmers have been sitting on dharna in protest against the three agricultural laws since November last year. Addressing the media, Tikait said, “I will meet the police and the administration as they have cut the power supply and drinking water facilities have also been closed since last night and our supply will be affected if its supply is not available” .
