Gaul | England’s experienced fast bowler James Anderson has achieved the feat of taking five or more wickets for the 30th time in a Test career. Anderson was jointly at number six with Glenn McGrath taking five or more wickets 29 times in a career before the second Test match in Gaul with Sri Lanka.
He took five wickets for the 30th time in the Test by dismissing Niroshan Dickwella during Sri Lanka’s first innings in the second Test with Sri Lanka. He then completed his sixth wicket in the innings by dismissing Suranga Lakmal.
Of the four wickets of Sri Lanka on the first day, Anderson took three wickets in his name.
Anderson ranks fourth on the list of most wicket-taker bowlers in Test cricket. He has taken 606 wickets so far. He is the most successful fast bowler in Test history.
38-year-old Anderson needs 14 more wickets to finish third on the list of most wicket-taker bowlers in Anderson Test cricket and will then overtake former leg-spinner Anil Kumble.
