The navies of India and Vietnam conducted a four-day exercise in the sea of Vietnam in April last year to increase operational co-operation. At the same time last month, Indian Navy warships conducted passage exercises with the Vietnam Navy in the South China Sea. India and Vietnam raised the level of their relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016 and defense cooperation has been an important element in the rapidly strengthening bilateral relations.
