Lucknow. Samajwadi Party also announced the candidates for the assembly by-elections on Friday. The party has declared three seats in the by-elections being held on four vacant seats. Duddhi has expressed confidence in former minister and seven-time MLA Vijay Singh Gond. SP President Akhilesh Yadav had approved his name in December last year itself.
Elections are to be held on four vacant seats
Among the four vacant assembly seats, Lucknow East assembly seat is vacant due to the death of BJP MLA and former minister Ashutosh Tandon ‘Gopal ji’ on November 9. The by-election here will be held on May 20 along with the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Dadraul Assembly seat of Shahjahanpur is vacant due to the death of BJP MLA Manvendra Singh on January 5. Voting will be held here along with the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections i.e. on May 13.

Gasdi assembly seat of Balrampur district is vacant due to the death of Dr. Shiv Pratap Yadav of SP. He died on 26 January. The by-election here will be held on May 25 along with the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Similarly, Sonbhadra’s Duddhi assembly seat BJP MLA Ram Dular was disqualified after being sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment by the court. This seat is vacant since 15th December. The by-election here will be held on June 1 along with the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections.
