According to Mapmayindia CEO and Executive Director Rohan Verma, satellite image and observation data will be made available by ISRO. Whereas Mapmai India will provide services digitally. He called it a milestone in the direction of self-reliant India.
Varma said that the people of India will no longer have to depend on a foreign company for maps, navigation and geospatial information about the streets and villages and cities, they will have an indigenous solution in front of them. In an article posted on the internet media platform LinkedIn, Varma said, ‘You don’t need Google Map / Earth’. Both companies will also release apps for navigation.
According to ISRO to provide this service, the Department of Space (under this comes ISRO)] and CE Info Systems Pvt. Ltd., a company owned by Mapmai India. An agreement was reached on Thursday. According to the agreement, both companies will provide better navigation and local information to the people using their technology and expertise. It will use portals called ‘Bhuvan’, ‘Vedaj’ and ‘Mosdac’ developed by ISRO. Bhuvan has geographical information of the country, Vedas is an online geoprocessing platform, which has information for people connected with education and research. At the same time, there is information related to ISRO’s meteorological mission on MosDec.
Mapmaiindia shows a map of India validated by the Government of India. It has information about 7.5 lakh villages of the country, houses and streets of more than 7,500 cities. Also, there is a detail of 63 lakh km of road network across the country. This portal provides information about three crores of locations across the country.
