Gorakhpur After taking over the reins of the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had given sugar mills to the sugarcane farmers of Pooranchal at Munderwa in Basti and Pipraich in Gorakhpur. Now these two mills are going to add a new step in the field of sugar production. These mills will produce sulfurless sugar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the sulfurless sugar plant in both the sugar mills of Uttar Pradesh State Sugar and Sugarcane Development Corporation Limited today (Wednesday). During this period Suresh Rana, Minister of Sugarcane Development and Sugar Mills Department will also be present.
Sulfurless sugar is going to be produced in the corporation area for the first time. Sulfurless sugar has a higher export potential. For this, state-of-the-art plants have been set up in the sugar mills of Pipraich and Munderwa for about Rs 25 crore.
After taking over the command of the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had offered sugarcane farmers of Gorakhpur-Basti division to Pipraich and Munderava sugar mills. The target of crushing in both these sugar mills is 65 lakh quintals, both mills have a capacity of crushing sugarcane of 50-50 thousand quintals per day.
State-of-the-art turbines have been installed in the sugar mills of Pipraich and Munderwa to make sulfurless sugar. Their construction has cost about 25-25 crores. The new turbine will use carbon dioxide to clean the sugar. This carbon dioxide oxide sugar mills will get free from distilleries.
Traditional techniques of sugar production use lime as well as sulfur dioxide to clean sugarcane juice. Even after sugar is made, some portion of sulfur remains in it, which is harmful to health. Due to this, sulfurized sugar is banned abroad.
