The Indian cricket team, captained by Virat Kohli, will start the campaign to save the Border-Gavaskar Trophy title from the Day Night Test match against hosts Australia in Adelaide from 17 December. It was confirmed on Wednesday.
After the first Day Night Test match to be held in Adelaide, the two teams will host the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from 26 December, the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC) from 7 January 2021 and the fourth and final Test at Goba from 15 January 2021. The Adelaide Test will be the first day-night Test match between India and Australia. Both teams have not lost a single Day Night Test so far. India won their only Day Night Test match against Bangladesh at Eden Gordon in 2019.
Australia have played four Day Night Tests against New Zealand, South Africa, England and Pakistan in Adelaide so far and have won all four.
Australia still tops the ICC Test rankings. India won three Tests in the four-match Test series on Australia’s tour of 2018-19 and it was the first time they had won the series on Australian soil.
The Indian team will begin their tour of Australia with a three-match ODI series. The first and second ODIs between the two teams will be played in Sydney on 27 and 29 November. After this, the third and final ODI will be held in Canberra on 2 December.
After the ODI series, the T20 series played between the two teams will be played in Canberra and Sydney. The first match will be played on 4 December in Canberra, while the remaining two matches of the series will be played in Sydney on 6 and 8 December.
Australia won their last ODI series against world champions England, while India have a record of 12–10 in ODIs against Australia in the last five years.
Cricket Australia has also announced international events. India-A will tour Australia before the Test series, where they will play matches at the Oval from December 6-8. Apart from this, the Indian team will play a Day Night Test match with Australia-A in Sydney from 11 to 13 December.
The Indian team will arrive in Sydney on 12 November and will stay in Quarantine for 14 days before the first match of the series on 27 November.
