Patna . Many changes are seen in the Bihar Assembly elections going on in the Corona era. Here, many political parties are also trying to reach their destination by walking on a new path, having dreams of reaching power, which is being tried vigorously by all the parties.
This is the reason why many new alliances have emerged and all the alliances have also decided their own chief ministerial candidates. By the way, it is being said that the main contest in the election is in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led coalition.
It is being said that barring the Grand Alliance in this election, excluding some areas of Hindustani Awam Morcha (we) and the Vikas Insaan Party (VIP), which came with the NDA, their influence in other areas of the state is negligible.
It is being said that even though small parties have entered the electoral fray by forming alliances, their capacity is nothing more than vote-cutting.
Manoj Chaurasia, a senior journalist from Patna and who knows the politics of Bihar, also says that the role of small parties is nowhere to be seen in this election. He, however, also believed that the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), which is contesting elections in Bihar apart from the NDA, would affect this election in many areas.
He admitted that even though other small parties are in the electoral fray through coalitions, there are many such parties which have no identity in Bihar.
In this election, the VIPs in the NDA are contesting on 11 seats, while ‘Hum’ is contesting on seven seats. Both parties contested three seats in the Lok Sabha elections and lost all the seats. VIPs received less than two percent of the vote.
Here, in this election, six political parties including Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) separated from the Rashtriya Loksamata Party (RLSP) grand party of former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha and joined the Grand Democratic Secular Front. (Virat is contesting under the Democratic Secular Front).
Here, former MP Pappu Yadav’s party Jan Adhikar Party is also contesting under progressive democratic alliance with many parties including Azad Samaj Party. Pappu Yadav could not save his Lok Sabha seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
By the way, Pappu Yadav has worked hard in the field in the past. Political critic Santosh Singh also says that smaller parties may not make their own chances but can weaken the chances of others. He said that Pappu Yadav’s chanting, Owaisi’s AIMIM has a hold in some areas but is unlikely to affect the results across the state.
Here, the LJP has also announced to contest 143 seats. Regional parties tasting power in other states could never be more intrusive in Bihar politics. The situation is not expected to change much in this election.
