Taking the membership of Congress, he said that I thank Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for giving me this opportunity. Sharad Yadav is not actively participating in the Bihar elections, as he is not well. He has always supported the ‘Grand Alliance’. This is my responsibility. Take this fight forward and take Bihar to greater heights.
Kali Pandey also joined Congress
Kali Pandey who split from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). After joining the Congress, he said it was like a homecoming for him, as he had supported former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1984 when he was a member of the Lok Sabha.
With this, he said that I am honored to join Congress. Congress is my old house and I am happy to be back in my old house. Let me tell you that in 1980 Kali Pandey won the Bihar assembly election as an independent candidate and then also won the 1984 parliamentary election from Gopalganj in the state.
Significantly, Sharad Yadav was expelled from JDU in August 2017 for his involvement in anti-party activities. After this, he formed the Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD). He was part of the grand alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and contested the elections from Madhepura under the banner of this, but had to face defeat.
