New Delhi. Shreyasi Singh, daughter of former Union Minister Digvijay Singh and former MP Putul Kumari and national shooter Shreyasi Singh, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party before the Bihar Assembly elections. BJP President JP Nadda welcomed him at the party headquarters. Shreyasi was also present with her mother. Mrs. Putul Kumari has already joined BJP. He was suspended for contesting as an independent in the last Lok Sabha election. Today his suspension also ended.
Election incharge of Bihar Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar general secretary in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, general secretary Arun Singh were also present on the occasion. It is believed that Shreyasi Singh can contest from Amarpur seat of Banka or Jamui assembly seat. Shreyasi won the gold medal for the country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In addition, he won a silver medal in the double trap event of shooting at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He has also been awarded the Arjuna Award for his creditable contribution to the Games.
Shreyasi was part of the Indian team in the 2013 Trap Shooting World Cup held at Acapulco in Mexico. His father had been the president of the National Rifle Association of India. This is Shreyasi’s first stop in politics coming from Jamui district of Bihar. Chirag Paswan, the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), is currently an MP from Jamui. Shreyasi’s father Digvijay Singh had been a Union Minister in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the year 1998.
