new Delhi. The Congress has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling the inhuman behavior during the last rites of the Hathras rape victim a stigma for the state and the country. Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, demanded Yogi’s resignation, saying that when the victim was alive she was not given protection by the government and even snatched the right of funeral after death.
Priyanka also put the Chief Minister in the dock for announcing the SIT after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention. He questioned the silence of the state government for 15 days. Priyanka tweeted, questioning the act of the Uttar Pradesh police for forcibly performing her last rites at the emergency midnight without the consent of the victim’s family.
Priyanka said that at 2.30 pm, the family kept pleading, but the victim’s body was forcibly burnt by the Uttar Pradesh administration. The government did not protect her while she was alive. The government did not provide timely treatment when it was attacked. After the death of the victim, the government took away the right of the family to the funeral of the daughter and did not even honor the deceased. Extreme inhumanity, you did not stop the crime, but treated like criminals. The state government treated her family in such a way that they could not take the dead body of the daughter to their home for the last time. The father was deprived of performing the last rites. Not only this, everyone was locked in a room. This behavior is the greatest example of inhumanity.
At the same time, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has issued a statement saying that it is a crime against the daughter of a poor family. Hathras is not killed by Nirbhaya, he was killed by the government and its administrative staff. Speaking to the media, Mahila Congress President Sumita Dev and spokesperson Udit Raj on behalf of the party reiterated the demand for Yogi’s resignation and said that if it does not happen then Hathras’ daughter will not get justice.
