Unnao: The bus going from Kanpur to Lucknow went out of control after crossing the divider to save a bike rider and went in the other direction and collided with an Ertiga car. The collision was so severe that the roof of the car was blown off from front to back. The head of the family, his sister-in-law and son-in-law died in the accident, while seven were injured. All the injured have been referred to Lucknow Trauma Center from CHC Nawabganj.
Accident happened while saving bike rider
50-year-old Shivbahadur Singh, resident of Sadhira village of Ajgain area, had booked an Ertiga car with his family to look for a girl for the marriage of his son Durgesh and went to Hanuman Temple in Mohanlalganj, Lucknow on Sunday. Left for home around 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
At 3:30 pm, near Baba Dhaba in Ajgain area on Kanpur-Highway, the roadways bus of Rath depot, going from Kanpur towards Lucknow at a speed of about 80 km per hour, went out of control while trying to save the bike rider going ahead and crossed the divider and went in the other direction. I collided with a car. The collision was so strong that the car was blown apart.
In the accident, 48-year-old Shivbahadur Singh, his sister-in-law Usha Singh, wife Deepak Singh and son-in-law Virendra Singh, residents of Singhpur Kathar police station, Panki Kanpur city, who were traveling in the car, died in the accident. Apart from Shiv Bahadur’s son Durgesh Singh, daughter Gudiya, Durga and brother Deepak Singh, seven people including Deepak’s two innocent sons Deepanshu, Ansh and Dheeraj’s innocent daughter Khushi of the family were injured.
Amidst the screams, people nearby started taking out the people trapped in the car with the help of passersby.
Inspector in-charge Avnish Singh reached the spot and took everyone to CHC with the help of ambulance. When the condition became critical, everyone was referred to Lucknow Trauma Center. The car belonged to a village youth, which was being driven by Virendra, the son-in-law who lost his life in the accident.
After the accident, the driver and conductor of the bus fled from the spot. During this time there was a jam for about half an hour. The police brought the damaged car and bus to the side and normalized the traffic.
