Islamabad Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has received a warrant of arrest at his home in Britain. A source in the Foreign Office here has said that the warrant is non-bailable. The non-bailable warrant was issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on 15 September hearing a criminal appeal against Sharif’s conviction in the Al-Azizia corruption case. The court said that his sentence was canceled under certain conditions and granted bail, but under conditions he is not present here.
Foreign Office sources said on Monday that this non-bailable arrest warrant was given by the IHC Registrar to the Foreign Office Secretary on September 17 through a special envoy. Later Pakistan High Commission in Britain also got this.
It has also been reported that the Pakistani mission in London has written to the UK Foreign Office to follow this order.
Let us know that Sharif has been in the UK since November 2019 after seeking bail from the court on medical grounds and permission from the Tehreek-e-Insaf government of Pakistan. At the same time, he was declared a criminal earlier this month due to his continuous absence from court proceedings.
