new Delhi. Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday dismissed several MPs from the House, a day after a huge uproar in the Rajya Sabha. These are the MPs who are accused of creating a ruckus in Parliament and obstructing the proceedings of the House. The motion was moved by Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V. Muralitharan and the House moved the Trinamool Congress’s Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen, Congress’s Rajeev Satava, Ripun Bora, Nasir Hussain, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh and K.K. . Ragesh and CPI-M’s E. Karim suspended.
Members shouted slogans after the motion was approved in the Rajya Sabha by voice vote. Earlier, Chairman Naidu said that it is a sad day for democracy and is ‘unfortunate’ and ‘condemnable’. He rejected the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition against Deputy Speaker Harivansh Narayan Singh, citing the rules.
Naidu defended the Deputy Chairman and said that the Deputy Chairman followed the rule. On Sunday, when MPs were seen messing with the dignity of the House, Trinamool MP Derek approached Asan and tried to snatch the mic citing the rule book. He tore up the rule book, describing the bills related to agriculture as black laws. Due to which the House had to adjourn for a while.
The Trinamool leader was also heard saying, “You can’t do this.” At one time, the deputy chair colleagues who were to conduct the proceedings of the House had to come forward to shield them. Despite repeated requests, many opposition members also reached Vail to register their protest against the agricultural bills.
