new Delhi. Diesel prices continued to fall for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday, while there was no change in the price of petrol for the second consecutive day. In these four days, diesel has become cheaper by 98 paise per liter in Delhi. After the softening of crude oil in the international market, petrol and diesel prices have got some relief to consumers.
Oil marketing companies on Sunday cut diesel prices by 24 paise in Delhi, 23 paise in Kolkata, 25 paise in Mumbai and 22 paise in Chennai. A day earlier, the price of diesel was cut by 20 paise in Delhi and Kolkata, 21 paise in Mumbai and 19 paise per liter in Chennai. After four consecutive days of cut, the price of diesel in the National Capital Region has come down by 98 paise to Rs 71.58 per liter.
According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of diesel in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has come down to Rs 71.58, Rs 75.09, Rs 78.02 and Rs 76.99 per liter respectively. While the petrol price in the four metros remains stable at Rs 81.14, Rs 82.67, Rs 87.82 and Rs 84.21 per liter respectively. Experts say that due to diesel being cheaper, the freight will be reduced, which will bring relief to the common consumers of the country in the coming days.
In the international market, benchmark crude oil Brent crude was up over $ 43 a barrel last week, while US crude West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was close to $ 41 a barrel. During the second week of this month, Brent crude fell below $ 40, while WTI was down by $ 36.16.
