new Delhi. Australian batsman and Rajasthan Royals team captain Steve Smith has expressed disappointment over the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) being dropped from India. The IPL was scheduled to be held in March but was postponed due to Kovid-19. Now this league will start in UAE from September.
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said last week that the league will be played this year from September 19 to November 8 and information has been given to the franchise.
Smith said players will have to adjust to the UAE situation but that will not be a problem as everyone wants to return to the field and play good cricket.
Smith told reporters via videoconference on the special premiere of Rajasthan Royals documentary Inside Story, “I think whatever situation you face as a professional player, it has to be harmonized and that is the clear message from the coaching staff Will happen.”
He said, “The situation in Dubai can be like India or different, it is a matter of keeping pace with the situation. Some players already have experience of playing there. I think in 2014 IPL was there, many players Have played IPL there. ”
The right-handed batsman said, “I think the players will be anxious to play good cricket. Obviously it is a disappointment if the IPL is not happening in India. We would have liked to play there.”
Smith said that due to Kovid-19 being away from cricket for a long time, all the players will be in the same position and no team will have any special edge.
Smith said, “Yes, it will be challenging. Many players have not played cricket. From this perspective, it will be an equal competition.”
“Everyone will come with the same kind of preparation which will be good. It is a very difficult time and the players want cricket to come back somehow,” he said.
“It will be very interesting when the IPL starts,” he said.
On the other hand, Rajasthan’s youngest player Ryan Parag also spoke on the return of IPL. Parag holds the record for scoring the youngest half-century in the IPL. He scored a half-century against Delhi Capitals in 17 years and 175 days last year.
Parag said, “Pressure is when you think about it. To be honest, I don’t fall into all these taglines, what the media is saying, what people are saying.”
He said, “For me it’s like another year .. I want to start afresh. I don’t want to think about anything and do what the team wants from me. I want to be independent and play my game according to my ability Am. “
