Disappointed with this defeat, Hardik Pandya said after the match that I take full responsibility for this defeat.
Hardik Pandya described the defeat as disappointing and said that he feels that we gave 10-12 runs more in fielding. In the end we became weak. He took 5 wickets in bowling, he has become the first captain in IPL history to do this feat. Regarding his bowling, he said, “I have always enjoyed my bowling. I do not have many options, but I read the wicket and use better options. I never go for wickets, but try to make the batsmen commit mistakes. Today was also such a day.”
I take full responsibility for this defeat – Hardik Pandya
On his MI’s third consecutive defeat, he said, “As a batting unit we got weak. We win as a team, we lose as a team. I take full responsibility for this defeat! We needed some hits, he (Tilak Verma) was not getting them. There are some days in cricket when you try, but they don’t come. Just play good cricket, I like to keep it simple. Take better calls, be smart in bowling, take chances in batting. It’s a long tournament, you get some wins and you get into the rhythm.”
Chasing 204 runs, Mumbai Indians did not have a good start, the team lost 2 wickets for 17 runs. Naman Dheer (46) and Suryakumar Yadav (67) played good innings and made the match, but slow batting in the last overs became a big reason for the defeat. Tilak Verma played 23 balls to score 25 runs, after which the captain retired him out. Pandya scored 28 runs in 16 balls, but he could not make the team win.
