Sitapur. Congress MP Rakesh Rathore, accused in the rape case, got relief after a hearing in the High Court on Tuesday. The High Court has granted bail to the MP. However, the MP will not be released yet.
The police filed a chargesheet in the court on Tuesday itself. A new section has been added for rape by deceiving. The MP will have to seek refuge in the lower court again for bail under the new section.
A woman had filed a case against MP Rakesh Rathore in Nagar Kotwali on January 17 for rape by deceiving. After this, efforts were made by the MP for anticipatory bail. His anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the MP-MLA court as well as the High Court.
The MP was arrested on January 30
After this, the Nagar Kotwali police arrested him from his residence on January 30. Since then he is in jail. After the bail petition was rejected by the MP-MLA court, a petition was filed in the High Court. The first hearing on this was held on February 20. In this, Additional Advocate General VK Shahi had sought time for arguments.
The court had given him time and fixed the date of hearing as 24 February. In this, the victim’s personal advocate Pooja Singh had filed an affidavit presenting the victim’s side on the points given for the bail of the MP. On this, the team of MP’s advocate Ripudaman Shahi had sought time to file a counter affidavit on the affidavit.
The court had given them time to give a counter affidavit and fixed the date of hearing as 27 February. In this, the victim’s personal advocate Pooja Singh and Additional Advocate General VK Shahi had argued against the bail plea of the MP. Said, the MP can influence the investigation. On this, Judge Rajesh Singh Chauhan had fixed the date of hearing as 11 March. The judge had also ordered the investigator to file a charge sheet by 11 March.

The High Court had ordered the police to complete the investigation by 11 March and present it in the court. Kotwal Anup Shukla said that the charge sheet was presented on Tuesday in compliance with the court’s order. A new section 69 has been added to it. The MP has been granted bail under section 64. He will have to appeal to the lower court for bail.
