Kanpur: A case of suicide of a research scholar has come to light in Kanpur IIT, Uttar Pradesh. According to the information, Ankit Yadav, a research scholar of chemistry, committed suicide in his hostel room. The IIT administration said that it is not known why the student committed suicide. The deceased student was a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh and was a research scholar in the Chemistry Department of Kanpur IIT.
The police said that Ankit Yadav, son of Ramsurat Yadav, who lived in Jagriti Apartment in Noida Sector 71, was a first year PhD student in Kanpur IIT. He had joined IIT through UGC Fellowship. He lived in room number 103 of IIT hostel. On Monday evening at 5 pm, 24-year-old Ankit hanged himself in his hostel room. He was immediately brought to the health center located on the campus, where doctors declared him dead.
After this, the student’s family was informed about this. Police officials also reached the spot and started investigation. Forensic team was also called to collect evidence. The case is being investigated from all angles. The IIT administration said that the reason why the student committed suicide is not known.
