Bangarmau (Unnao). The wife and two children of a Subedar (army man) died of suffocation while sleeping in a room with a lit brazier. It was suspected that all of them suffocated due to poisonous carbon monoxide gas. When the wife did not pick up the phone in the morning, the Subedar husband posted in Ladakh informed his brother living in the village. When the brother arrived, the door of the room was broken and the bodies were taken out. After the forensic team’s investigation, the police have sent the bodies for postmortem.
Alok Singh, a resident of Munnikheda village of Fatehpur Chaurasi area, is posted as a Subedar in the army. At present, he is posted in Ladakh. Five years ago, he built a house in New Katra Mohalla of Bangarmau town. For about two years, Alok’s 35-year-old wife Rachna alias Nishu was living in the same house with her seven-year-old son Vaibhav alias Ansh and four-year-old daughter Vaishnavi.
To avoid cold, she lit a brazier in the room on Sunday night and put coal on top of it and went to sleep after closing the doors and windows. According to the police, due to the doors and windows being closed, the poisonous carbon monoxide gas released from the brazier filled the room.
No one could wake up due to this gas which acts like a slow poison and all three died of suffocation. At around 10 pm on Sunday night, the Subedar called his wife. When she did not pick up the phone, he thought she might have fallen asleep but did not call again. When he called again in the morning and his wife did not pick up, he informed his relatives living in Munnikheda village of Fatehpur Chaurasi area about this.
When cousin Pankaj reached the Subedar’s house in Bangarmau from the village, he found the main door of the house locked from inside. On this, he climbed the stairs and entered the house through the roof. The door of the room in which everyone slept was found locked from inside.
When Pankaj broke the door with the help of people around, he was shocked to see the bodies of Rachna and her two children in the room. Her parents and in-laws also reached there and were devastated to see the bodies. CO Bangarmau Arvind Chaurasia, after investigation with the help of forensic team, sent the bodies for postmortem.
What did the CO say?
The CO said that it is suspected that all three died due to suffocation after sleeping with a burning stove and the carbon monoxide gas emitted from it. The mother and daughter were found on the bed and the seven-year-old son’s body was found lying on the ground nearby. An empty glass was also found near the son’s body. It is suspected that the son got up to drink water due to difficulty in breathing but could not open the door and go out and he also died. Action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem report.
