More than 20 workers were buried under the debris when the lintel of a two-storey building under construction under the Amrit Bharat Yojana collapsed at the railway station in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Police gave this information. Taking cognizance of the Kannauj accident, the Northeast Railway has constituted a three-member high-level committee to investigate the incident and has announced to give Rs 50,000 each to the minor injured in the incident and Rs 2.5 lakh to the seriously injured. According to the police, many workers are feared to be buried under the debris. After this incident, a rescue operation was started immediately and six injured workers were pulled out of the debris and sent to the hospital. A total of 23 people have been injured in this incident so far. How did the incident happen? According to the information received, the construction work of a two-storey building was going on at Kannauj railway station. During this time, there was a loud sound due to the fall of the lintel and the workers were buried under the debris. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the local police and relief-rescue team reached the spot. What did the administrative officials say?
On this accident, the administrative officials say that there is a possibility of more workers being buried under the debris. Rescue work is going on rapidly and the debris is being removed with the help of cranes and other equipment. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital, where the condition of many is said to be critical.

Northeast Railway CPRO Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “We received information about the incident at 2:39 pm that 5 workers have been injured, who have been sent to the hospital. It has been announced to give compensation of Rs 50 thousand to the seriously injured and Rs 5 thousand to those who have suffered minor injuries. Railway and state government teams are present at the spot. Relief and rescue work is going on.”
Relief work continues
Kanpur Commissioner Vijendra Pandian and IG Range Kanpur Joginder Kumar are also present on the spot. He said that ‘the rescue work is being monitored through drone cameras. A part of the debris has been cleared. So far 25 workers have been rescued. Out of the workers rescued from the debris, 16 are slightly injured and have been sent to the local hospital. 9 workers are seriously injured and have been admitted to Tirwa Medical College. Sniffer dogs have also been called to rescue the workers buried under the debris.’
