Lucknow. ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) has arrested Rohingya Mohammad Abdullah alias Abdus Salam Mandal, an active member of the syndicate that facilitates infiltration of Bangladeshis, from Varanasi. He was living here for a long time by changing his identity.
Abdullah has also built his house in West Medinipur, Bengal with the money earned from illegal infiltration. He is originally from Myanmar. Aadhar card, PAN card, Indian election card, UNHRC card, mobile, three memory cards and other documents have been recovered from his possession.
ATS has arrested 11 accused
ATS has arrested 11 accused in the case so far. The search for some other members of the gang has also been intensified. Along with illegal infiltration, the gang was also promoting anti-national activities with foreign funding.
On October 11, 2023, the ATS arrested Adil Mohammad Asrafi alias Adilur Rahman, a resident of Mirpur, Bangladesh, and Najibul Sheikh and Abu Huraira Ghazi, residents of Bengal, and exposed the gang that infiltrated Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.
The gang’s links with Deoband
The gang’s links were also connected to Deoband (Saharanpur). Najibul and Abu Huraira were taking refuge in Deoband, while Adilur Rahman, an active member of the gang coming from Bengal to Deoband, was arrested in Varanasi.
The ATS investigation revealed that the gang had infiltrated Bangladeshi citizens from the India-Bangladesh border and provided them shelter by preparing fake Indian documents.
Information received about Rohingya Abdullah
A case has been registered in the ATS police station under sections including fraud, Foreigners Act and Passport Act and investigation is being carried out. Information about Rohingya Abdullah was received during the investigation. According to ATS, he was caught near Varanasi railway station. During interrogation, Abdullah told that Abu Saleh Mandal and other members of the gang who were caught earlier had got his Aadhar card and other Indian documents made in the name of Abdus Salam Mandal at an address in West Medinipur, Bengal.
