Rafael Nadal said goodbye to tennis. The Spanish tennis star played the last match of his career in the Davis Cup. It is worth noting that the tennis legend had announced his retirement last month i.e. in October. He had said that he would play his last match in the Davis Cup.
Nadal played his last match in the Davis Cup on Tuesday against Botic van de Zschulp of the Netherlands. In the match, Botic van de defeated Nadal 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets. Nadal made a comeback in the second set of the match, but ultimately he had to face defeat.
Let us tell you that 38-year-old Nadal retired with 22 Grand Slam singles titles. Apart from this, he also achieved many achievements in tennis. While ending his career, Nadal emphasized that he should be remembered for both his athletic and personal qualities.
“I am leaving with the peace of mind that I have left a legacy, which I think is not just a sporting legacy but a personal one,” Nadal said.
Nadal further said, “The titles, the numbers are there. But the way I want to be remembered more is as a good person, a kid who followed his dreams and achieved more than I ever dreamed.
