The first match of the Test series between India and New Zealand is being played in Bengaluru. Shubman Gill is not a part of this match. He is out of Team India’s playing XI. The Board of Control for Cricket in India explained why Gill has been dropped. Shubman has a problem in his neck. That is why he was not available for selection. In his absence, Sarfaraz Khan has been given a chance.
BCCI shared a post on X after the toss. The board said that Shubman Gill has a problem in his neck. That is why he is not playing in the first match of the Test series against New Zealand. Gill has performed strongly on many occasions. But he has been ruled out of the Bengaluru Test due to not being fully fit. If Gill remains fit, he will definitely be included in the playing XI of the second Test series.
Sarfaraz got a chance in place of Gill –
Sarfaraz has had a good record in domestic matches so far. He has also played 3 Test matches for Team India. Sarfaraz has scored 200 runs during this period. He recently scored an unbeaten 222 runs in a domestic match. Seeing Sarfaraz’s form, he got a place in Team India. Now after Gill was out, he also got a place in the playing eleven.
