Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy 2025, which is to be held from February next year (2025). Pakistan is going to host an ICC tournament for the first time after the 1996 ODI World Cup, for which preparations are being done vigorously. Keeping the Champions Trophy in mind, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is engaged in upgrading its stadium. Meanwhile, PCB President Mohsin Naqvi exposed the condition of its stadiums. Mohsin Naqvi told that even essential facilities like bathrooms were not present in the stadium.
Let us tell you that due to the renovation work going on in the Karachi stadium, the first Test to be played against Bangladesh was shifted to Rawalpindi. After shifting the Test, all kinds of questions were being raised.
Board Chief Mohsin Naqvi, while talking to the media on Monday (August 19), said that there is a lot of difference between our stadium and the stadiums of other countries of the world. Apart from this, he also highlighted that the Karachi stadium was not an international stadium in any sense. The PCB chairman said, “There is a huge difference between our stadium and the rest of the world’s stadiums. The Karachi stadium was not an international stadium in any sense. None of our stadiums could qualify for international. There were no seats, no bathrooms. The view was such that it seemed as if we were looking at it from a distance of 500 meters. The world has become very advanced. If we have to remain in the 1980 model, then it is okay.” Mohsin Naqvi further said about the upgrade of the stadium, “Look, there are currently five months left for the Champions Trophy. Right now the focus is on the enclosure and main building of both the sites. The main building in Karachi may go up to three floors. We will try to find out if there will be a fourth floor or not. All stadiums will be upgraded. New stadiums will be built in Islamabad and Abbottabad.”
