Amroha. A goods train derailed on Saturday evening at Kalyanpur railway crossing near Amroha railway station on Moradabad-Delhi railway line. Its eight containers, two tankers and six trolleys overturned. Due to the accident, traffic on up and down lines has been stopped. Eight trains have been stopped at different stations. Railway officials and accident relief train have reached the spot.
Officials are investigating the cause of the accident. Sadbhavana Express coming from Delhi had passed through the railway crossing just a few seconds ago. As soon as it passed, the wagons of the goods train overturned on the up line. If the goods train had derailed a few seconds earlier, a major accident could have occurred. The wagons of the goods train going from Gonda Kachhari to Ghaziabad suddenly overturned at around seven in the evening.
Before people could understand anything, 16 wagons including six trolleys (in which containers are kept) overturned on the up and down lines. Train traffic was stopped on both lines. There was chaos at Moradabad Railway Division Headquarters as well. First, officials from Amroha station reached the spot. After this, officials from Moradabad also arrived.
Reason for the accident is not clear
Officials are not able to clarify the cause of the accident. Railway officials are currently busy clearing the down line so that the traffic of trains can be made smooth. It is likely to take three to four hours. Eight trains on the up and down lines have been stopped at various stations. It is being considered to run trains by changing the route.
Affected trains
Moradabad Delhi Passenger, Bareilly-Delhi Passenger, Padmavat Express, Bareilly Intercity Express, Satyagraha Express, Maldatown Express, Ayodhya Express, Suheldev Express, Lucknow Mail, Ranikhet Express have been affected. At the same time, Delhi-Moradabad Passenger and New Delhi-Bareilly Passenger have been cancelled.
Trains going from Delhi to Lucknow via Moradabad are being run via Ghaziabad, Aligarh Kanpur. The trains whose routes have been announced to be changed include Ayodhya Express, Lucknow Mail, Lucknow AC Superfast Express, Suheldev Express, Padmavad Express, Satyagraha Express.
