Lucknow. The second wife of a retired IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre was raped in his house. When the dowry demand was not met, she was held hostage and beaten. An obscene video was also made. Making these serious allegations, the victim has lodged a case in Ghazipur police station in Lucknow. When the investigation revealed that the place of incident was Bandipura in Jammu and Kashmir, the investigation has been transferred to Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The victim, a resident of Lucknow, was married to a retired IAS officer from Bandipura in Jammu and Kashmir in November 2020. This was the second marriage of the IAS. He has three daughters and a son from his first wife.
Raped after being held hostage for five days
According to the victim, she started being harassed since she reached her in-laws’ house. Dowry was demanded. When the demand was not met, the woman was badly beaten by her step children. According to the woman, in April 2024, the son-in-law and step son held her hostage for about five days and raped her. When she protested, she was beaten again. During this time she was not even given food.
When the woman’s health deteriorated, she was sent back to her maternal home. Before this, the husband and his family made some videos of the woman. They also got her to sign on a plain stamp paper.
