Lakhimpur. The negligence of the officers of the electricity department took the lives of three people and two people are fighting for their lives in the hospital. The young man who went out to distribute his wedding cards on Monday did not know that the incompetent officers had arranged for his death on the way. Three lives were lost when a high tension wire fell on a moving bike. The deceased youth was to get married on July 3, his sister and nephew also died along with him, while his mother and niece are injured.
After the preliminary investigation of Chief Engineer Vivek Asthana, Energy Minister AK Sharma has suspended Executive Engineer-Gola Raj Narayan, SDO Sub Division First Vineet Kumar and JE Gola Town Amrit Lal.
Babu, a resident of Pilibhit, had come to Lakhimpur to distribute his wedding cards. On the way back, he was going back home with his sister Manju, nephew Anmol and niece Khushi along with mother Bidiya on the bike. Then the high tension power line wire coming from above near village Hempur on the canal track meeting the Khutar-Mohammadi highway broke and fell on them. Bablu, sister Manju and nephew Anmol died on the spot, while the mother and niece were severely burnt. District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh, Police Captain Ganesh Prasad Saha and the fire brigade in-charge were present at the scene, but the electricity officials did not reach the spot.
The wire had come loose and fell down
After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident, Lucknow Division Chief Engineer Vivek Asthana reached Kheri and prepared an investigation report after inspection. On Tuesday, the Chief Engineer met the DM and informed about the report. The Chief Engineer said that the insulator on the pole was tied to a high tension wire, which had come loose and fallen down. The height of the wire from the ground was just one foot. During this time, people riding a bike came out and got caught in the wire. The Chief Engineer clarified that the cross arm had become crooked after the storm on June 8. The officials should have conducted a survey of the lines, but they did not.
