Amroha. A constable posted in Baghpat committed suicide by shooting himself with a government-owned INSAS (rifle) at Amroha railway station. He had come to Sambhal for election duty. But the house had stopped to leave his wife and children.
Although the reasons behind the incident are not clear, there is talk of suicide due to domestic dispute. On receiving the information, SP Railway Ashutosh Shukla, ASP Amroha Rajiv Kumar Singh, CO Arun Kumar also reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. The entire matter is being investigated.

Shaukeen Ahmed, originally a resident of Ramnagar in Didoli Kotwali area, was posted as Inspector in Uttar Pradesh Police. He retired from Muzaffarnagar district in November 2023. The family consists of wife Mehnaz, only son Tayyab Khan and daughter Shaba. Shaba is married.
Son Tayyab Khan was posted as a constable in UP Police in 2015. Presently he was posted in court security in Baghpat district. Tayyab is also survived by his wife Munni, four children Tayyaba, Zaid, Ahad and Areeba.
About 10 years ago, Shaukeen Ahmed had built a house in Zoya’s Mohalla Kheda. Tayyab’s son Ahad lives with his grandparents in Zoya, while his wife and three children live in Baghpat.
Was on election duty
Tayyab Khan was on duty in Sambhal district for the third phase of elections on May 7. He had also departed from Baghpat. Since Sambhal district is adjacent to Amroha, he had returned home from Baghpat on Wednesday along with his wife and children. On Friday afternoon, he picked up Insaas and the bag and quietly left the house.
Status posted on WhatsApp
After leaving the house, he had also put a status on WhatsApp on his mobile, in which it was written that I am sorry for what I am going to do. Don’t take that for my cowardice, there is simply no other option.
Besides, Tayyab had also posted this message in the group of constables of 2015 recruitment. When family and relatives saw the status, they started calling Tayyab continuously. But he did not receive anyone’s call.
shot through the neck
He went to the platform number-2 of the railway station towards Pur Kankar Sarai in solitude and sat on the bench. Before the people around could understand anything, Tayyab put the cord of Insaas on his neck and pressed the trigger, he died on the spot due to the bullet. There was chaos at the railway station after the soldier committed suicide. GRP also arrived immediately.
AASP Rajeev Kumar Singh, CO Arun Kumar, Inspector-in-charge Rajesh Kumar Tiwari and Tehsildar Amroha also reached. On the other hand, the constable’s family and friends were searching for him.
Body sent for postmortem
Policemen received the call on mobile and informed father Shaukeen Ahmed about the incident. Late in the evening, SP Railway Ashutosh Shukla also inspected the spot. Finger print expert collected evidence. The body has been sent for postmortem.
ASP said that the constable died due to bullet injury. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. CCTV footage of the station is also being watched. The incident site is in GRP area. Action will be taken on the basis of the complaint of the family members.
