Lucknow. In the case of anti-national activities, NIA has raided 11 places of active members of banned organization CPI (Maoist) in Ballia and one place in Kaimur, Bihar. Apart from the locations of the five accused arrested in August 2023, the houses of several suspicious persons were also investigated.
On August 15, 2023, UPATS had arrested Lallu Ram, Satya Prakash Verma, Ram Murat Rajbhar and Vinod Sahni along with Tara Devi who was engaged in making new recruitments in Naxalite organizations from Ballia. Nine mm pistol was also recovered from the possession of the accused. Investigation has revealed that Tara Devi was sent to Ballia from Bihar. She was associated with Naxalites in the year 2005 and was also involved in the famous Madhuban bank robbery in Bihar.
Activities intensified after the death of Maoist leader
After the death of Sandeep Yadav, a prominent leader of the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist), Pramod Mishra was again intensifying Naxalite activities in Songanga, Vidhyanchal and Magadh zones. Tara and his other associates were recruiting men and women in Purvanchal. A conspiracy was being hatched to create an armed rebellion in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
NIA took over the investigation of this case on November 10, 2023 and filed a charge sheet in the court against four accused on February 9, 2024. NIA’s investigation so far has revealed that the banned organization was increasing its activities in other states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and leaders and active members of CPI (Maoist) were joining the organization in new areas.
