A sensational case has come to light from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. 36 passengers detained at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport on suspicion of gold smuggling escaped. All the passengers were in the custody of customs officials. He smuggled gold from Sharjah and reached Lucknow via flight. He had brought about two kilos of gold hidden in his stomach. He was caught by the customs team on Monday. He was being interrogated continuously.
The absconding passengers are being searched. Lucknow Police, along with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Customs officials, are searching for the absconding accused. All 36 accused were detained on the information of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). All the suspected accused absconded on Tuesday. This matter has created a stir.
Illegal gold was found from 36 passengers
The customs team received information from DRI that 36 passengers coming from the flight coming from Sharjah were smuggling gold. 36 suspicious passengers were stopped after the flight arrived on Monday. According to the information, a huge quantity of cigarettes and cash along with gold was found hidden in his stomach. After investigation, about 2 kg of gold was hidden in the stomach of the suspected passengers who were caught. Illegal gold and cigarette sticks worth about Rs 3.5 crore were recovered from them.
The absconding passengers are residents of Rampur.
For 2 days the Customs team kept interrogating all the 36 suspicious passengers. According to the information, all 36 accused absconded under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday evening in the name of deteriorating health of a passenger. There was panic in the department due to the absconding of the accused passengers. They were searched hurriedly but no clue was found. When the case came to light, a complaint was lodged by the Customs at Sarojini Nagar police station in Lucknow on Wednesday. All the accused arrested on suspicion of gold smuggling were residents of Rampur Tanda.
