Team India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer is not currently a part of the T20 team. It is believed that Iyer will not be seen playing in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He is currently playing Ranji Trophy to prepare for the England Test series. Shreyas Iyer has given his first reaction after not getting a place in the Indian team.
After Mumbai’s win against Andhra in the Ranji Trophy, Shreyas Iyer said, “Look, I think about the present. I have completed the match that I was asked to play (Ranji match against Andhra). “I came and I played, so I’m happy with what I’m doing. Something that’s not in my control, I can’t focus on. My focus was to come here and win the match and that’s what we did today.”
After the poor performance in South Africa, the selectors instructed Iyer to play Ranji Trophy for Mumbai as he is part of the Test team. Iyer scored 48 runs in 48 balls while Andhra bowlers tried to take advantage of his weakness against the short ball.
When asked about the Test series, Iyer said that he is not thinking too far ahead. He said, “It is important to focus on one match at a time. Not thinking about the five-match Test series. Right now the team is only for the first two Test matches. We have to perform well in the first two matches and then the remaining matches Will have to look forward to.”
Iyer said that whatever the condition of the match, he will play aggressively as he did while batting against Andhra on the first day. He said, “No matter what the situation is, I am going to play aggressively. That was and will always be my mentality. I was happy regardless of the score.”
