Lucknow. ATS (Anti Terrorism Squad) has arrested Amas Ahmed alias Faraz Ahmed (22 years), another active member associated with the IS (Islamic State) module prepared in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). With the help of surveillance, ATS arrested Amas from Aligarh on Monday.
According to ADG ATS Mohit Aggarwal, Amas had also taken oath of IS. He graduated in Psychology from AMU in the year 2022 and appeared for the MBA entrance exam in the year 2023. Aams, a resident of GTB Nagar, Prayagraj, also lived in the VM Hall hostel of AMU. On the basis of input received from Delhi Police and other intelligence agencies, ATS had arrested IS terrorists Abdullah Arslan and Maaz bin Tariq from Aligarh on November 5, 2023. Only after this, Amas had gone underground and was living secretly in Aligarh.
ATS is searching for other accomplices
ATS is searching for some of Amas’s other associates on the basis of the facts revealed during his interrogation. Terrorists associated with the Pune module of IS had formed a separate group in Aligarh through Chhattisgarh resident Wajihuddin and a conspiracy was being hatched to carry out terrorist incidents in Uttar Pradesh. A deep conspiracy was hatched by forming AMU’s student organization SAMU (Students of Aligarh Muslim University).
Aamas was an active member of this group. ATS had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each on two active members of this gang, Abdul Samad Malik and Faizan. Among these, Abdul Samad had recently surrendered in Lucknow court. ATS is searching for Faizan.
