On Tuesday, the body of a research scholar was found hanging in the hostel room at IIT Kanpur. When the hostel administration came to know about this, they immediately informed the police. On receiving the information, the police arrived, took possession of the body of the research scholar and sent it for post-mortem. The cause of death has not been known yet. However, the police are prima facie investigating it as a case of suicide. The family members of the research scholar have also been informed about the incident by the hostel administration.
According to information, the body of Dr. Pallavi Chilka, a research staff member in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur, was found hanging from the fan in her hostel room on Tuesday. Let us tell you that when the door of Dr. Pallavi Chilka’s room did not open for a long time, fellow research scholars informed the hostel administration.
Police sent the body for postmortem
On receiving the information, the hostel administration people arrived and knocked on the door of his room for a long time, but got no response from inside. On receiving the information, the police arrived and broke the door of Dr. Pallavi’s room and saw that inside, Dr. Pallavi’s body was hanging from the fan. The police immediately took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. The police are currently waiting for the post mortem report. According to the institute, Dr. Pallavi Chilka had joined the institute to pursue her postdoctoral research. 35 year old Pallavi was a resident of Cuttack. She had returned from home only two days ago. According to the police, prima facie the case seems to be a suicide. At present the police and forensic team is investigating the entire matter. The institute has informed the family members of Dr. Pallavi Chilka about the incident.
