Lucknow. Bhatinda resident Amrit Gill alias Amritpal Singh alias Minister, an auto driver who was spying on the Indian Army for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, and his helper Riyazuddin have been arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Amrit Gill, son of Paramjeet, resident of Dullewal village located in Phool police station area of Bathinda, was arrested on November 23 from Talwandi Sabo of Punjab.
After interrogation, his helper Riyazuddin son of Anwar, resident of 126, Ansariman, Faridnagar, Bhojpur police station of Ghaziabad, was arrested by ATS from Lucknow on Sunday. ATS had registered a case against Amrit Gill, Riyazuddin and Izharul, who spied for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, in the case of increasing terrorist activities.
ATS ADG Mohit Aggarwal said that the names of these three had come to light after investigating the information about some people spying on Indian military bases. Izharul has already been arrested. He is currently lodged in Bettiah jail of Bihar. After interrogating him, Amritgil’s location was found. Auto driver Amrit used to send information about the tanks of Bathinda military cantonment to ISI agents.
Lakhs of rupees were given to him by ISI through Riyazuddin. Riazuddin and Izharul used to do welding work. They met while working at a welding shop in Rajasthan. After that Riyazuddin also came in contact with ISI through Izharul. Between March 2022 and April 2023, Rs 70 lakh was sent to Riyazuddin’s account from an unknown source. He gave this amount to many others including Amrit Gill. To some he had transferred money from his bank account itself.
Amrit Gill brought to Lucknow on transit remand
Amrit Gill has been arrested and brought to Lucknow on transit remand. Whereas Rizazuddin was arrested after interrogation in Lucknow. ATS is trying to get remand by presenting it in the court. Efforts are also being made to bring Izharul, who is lodged in Bihar jail, to Lucknow to gather more information about terror funding.
