Lucknow. ATS (Anti Terrorism Squad) has arrested two IS terrorists Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz bin Tariq from Aligarh. Inspired by fundamentalist ideology, both of them had joined the IS terrorist network through internet media and had also taken oath to join IS.
According to ATS officials, both the accused were collecting explosives and other bomb making equipment. They were plotting a major terrorist incident in the state. Investigation is being done regarding where the incident was planned to take place. ATS is also searching for some other terrorists associated with them.
ATS made a big disclosure
ADG ATS Mohit Aggarwal said that Abdullah and Tariq themselves were influenced by fundamentalist ideology and connected with IS terrorists through internet media.
The accused has been a student of AMU
Tariq is a B.Com student at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Arslan has done B.Tech from Petro Chemical. He has also been a student of AMU. During interrogation of both of them, it was revealed that a module for Jihad was being prepared by including other youths like them.
Name came up in Mumbai ATS investigation
IS handlers were preparing them for a terrorist incident in Uttar Pradesh. Mumbai ATS had recently arrested terrorists Shahnawaz and Rizwan. Investigation had revealed that Shahnawaz and Rizwan have connections with some students associated with AMU’s student organization SAMU (Students of Aligarh Muslim University). Who are inspired by the ideology of IS and are involved in anti-national conspiracies.
ATS took action after investigation
After investigating these facts, ATS had filed a report on November 3 in its police station in Lucknow under sections including Unlawful Activities Act. After thorough investigation, ATS on Sunday arrested Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz Bin Tariq from different places in Aligarh. Pen drives filled with IS literature were recovered from the possession of both the accused.

Investigation of their mobile phones and other electronic devices revealed that both of them are associated with many groups engaged in anti-national and terrorist activities. Banned literature of IS was being exchanged using WhatsApp and other internet media platforms.
Both the accused were presented in the court, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody. Both will be taken on police remand and interrogated. Search is also being conducted for his other associates.
