Lucknow. Businessman Aditya Kapoor killed his wife Shivani Kapoor with a knife due to delay in opening the door of the flat in Paper Mill Colony, Shivajinagar. Leaving his blood-soaked wife, the accused jumped from the balcony and got injured. He is undergoing treatment in the Trauma Centre.
ADCP Central Manisha Singh said that 43-year-old Shivani Kapoor was living with her 14-year-old son Shoham and 13-year-old daughter Pahal in flat number 101 of Alaya Apartment. She used to teach commerce at Dr. Virendra Swaroop Public School in the metropolis. She was married to Aditya in the year 2002.
Had attempted suicide several times
Aditya’s clothing showroom in Hazratganj was closed during the Corona period. He was addicted to alcohol. Had also attempted suicide several times. He often used to beat his wife after drinking alcohol. Aditya used to do business with his maternal uncle Pappu in Aminabad. He used to work in the shop from ten in the morning to nine at night. For some days, he was living separately from Shivani in his father Harinarayan’s house in Paper Mill Colony.
He reached Alaya Apartment at 11 pm on Saturday night. First called Shivani’s mobile. When the call was not answered, he knocked on the door of the flat. When the door did not open, he started shouting loudly. When Shivani opened the door, Aditya started abusing her. Both the children were sleeping in the back room. Aditya stabbed Shivani in the back with a knife.
Hearing the screams, guard Vishnu and neighbor Shahnawaz also reached. Shahnawaz told that Aditya had pressed Shivani’s neck with his hand. Shivani, covered in blood, was screaming. Somehow, Shivani was freed from his clutches and taken to Lohia Institute, where the doctors declared her dead.
Injured after jumping from the balcony
Aditya was locked in the flat but he jumped from the balcony and got injured. On the complaint of Shivani’s father Dilip Kapoor, the Metropolitan Police has registered a case against Aditya. The post mortem report has confirmed that he was attacked five times in the back.
Police and ambulance could not be called: The guard and Shivani’s neighbors told that they called the police several times during the incident, but could not be contacted. Also called the ambulance, but there was no response there either. Pappu told that he had taken clothes for Shivani and the children on Karva Chauth.
