Moradabad: A sub-inspector posted in Badaun first hit a cart driver with his car on the Bilari-Kundraki highway, then drove the car for 100 meters despite the injured being trapped. When people surrounded the car, the driver, calling himself a police inspector, took out his revolver and threatened to kill him and ran away.
After the incident, angry villagers placed the dead body on the highway and blocked it. CO Bilari Dr. Anoop Singh reached the spot along with Bilari and Kundarki police station in-charge and the force. After assurance of action, people took away the dead body. Salim Ahmed of Kundarki used to sell bangles and cosmetics on his cart.
Salim was trapped under the car
At around eight o’clock on Monday morning, Salim Ahmed had left home with a handcart for hawking. Was hawking on the side of the highway in the afternoon. In front of the fire station, a car coming from Bilari hit the cart. As soon as the collision occurred, Salim fell under the car after hitting the bonnet of the car and got stuck in the car.
The car driver tried to drive away the car by dragging the injured Salim. Salim kept dragging for about 100 meters. However, nearby villagers raised noise and surrounded the car. In such a situation, seeing the angry villagers, the car driver took out his revolver and pointed it in front of the crowd. Due to this everyone retreated. As soon as he got the chance, he ran away with the car.
Ruckus created by keeping dead body on the highway
The villagers blocked the highway by keeping the dead body. On receiving the information, CO Bilari Dr. Anoop Singh, Bilari and Kundarki police station in-charge reached the spot along with the police force. The police officers pacified the protesting people.
Bilari in-charge Ravindra Pratap Singh said that an FIR has been registered against unknown people. Further action will be taken after investigation.
Identification was done through the sticker on the car
The car that hit the cart operator had a police department sticker on it. According to eyewitnesses, he was calling himself a police inspector and also had a government revolver. According to police department sources, preliminary investigation has revealed that the car belongs to the inspector’s family and he is a resident of Badaun. The police is investigating the case. The CO said that further action will be taken after identifying the car driver.
