Prayagraj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that India is achieving new heights in every field. Sports which were once neglected are also progressing at a rapid pace across the country. Till now Prayagraj has been identified as Sangam city. The name of this district was due to other educational institutions including Allahabad University.
Maharishi Bharadwaj had established the first Gurukul on this holy land. This earth is known as the largest High Court of the world. Merit of students in competitive examinations also increases the importance of Prayagraj manifold. Now apart from these, Prayagraj is also making a name for the country and the world in the field of sports.
To be named after Amitabh Bachchan is also an achievement
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Myohal Sports Complex on Friday evening. He said that this sports complex is now known by the name of Amitabh Bachchan, the megastar of the art world. This is also a great achievement. Said that Golden Jubilee is important for any institution. So everyone should try together to take this complex further.
100 crore rupees will be spent on sports through smart city scheme
The state government has been cooperating in increasing it till now. Will do more now. The Chief Minister announced that Rs 100 crore would be spent under Smart City Scheme in Prayagraj to promote sports activities, out of which Rs 60 crore would be spent on development of sports activities in Myohal Complex. Told that Rs.10 crore would be spent in various schools and Allahabad University and Rs.7 crore would be spent to increase sports facilities in Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Park.
Budget for open air gym, children’s sports, sailing
CM also sanctioned Rs.4.25 crore for open air gym, Rs.2 crore 80 lakh for multi-activity center for children’s sports and entertainment at 60 places and Rs.2 crore for boating.
Medal winners and participants being honored
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has now started felicitating the sportspersons who have won medals and participated in Olympic, Para-Olympic, Commonwealth and Asian Games. Earlier this was not given any attention. Said that national level sports competition is going on in Gujarat, where a large number of players have gone from UP as well. Arrangements were made to send them by air-conditioned coach, whereas earlier they were sent in non-AC.
Emphasis on making village-village sports ground and mini-stadium
Told that today sports fields are being built in every village, mini stadiums at block level and stadiums at district level. Village-village open air gym is being arranged. Said that the first sports university of the state is being opened in Meerut. He also appreciated the efforts of Supreme Court Justice Vikram Nath for this program of Myohal Complex.
Honored many players including former DM
The Chief Minister also honored international medal winners Suhas LY (IAS), Damayanti Tambe, Abhinav Sinha, Mekhla Subedar and Dilip Tripathi by practicing in this complex.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Minister of State for Sports Girish Chandra Yadav and Additional Chief Secretary Navneet Sehgal also addressed the function.
