New Delhi. Australia women’s cricket team vice-captain Rachel Haynes has shocked the world by announcing her immediate retirement from international cricket. This is a big setback for the Australia women’s cricket team because Haynes, a top-order batsman and who has played more than 150 matches for her country, has brought the team out of trouble in many matches. Talking about the career of the left-arm all-rounder, he played 167 matches for Australia which includes six Tests, 77 ODIs and 84 T20I matches. He made his debut in 2009 at the historic ground at Lord’s.
Haynes captained Australia in 14 matches, most notably during the 2017-18 Ashes when Lanning was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. The 35-year-old Haynes won two ICC Women’s World Cup titles for Australia in 2013 and 2022 and two T20 World Cups in 2018 and 2020. On this occasion, Haynes thanked his fellow players.
In a statement issued by Australia Cricket, it has been said on his behalf that it is not possible to play at this level without the support of other people. Australia will announce a new vice-captain ahead of their next series. The team will play a five-match T20I series against India in December and a home ODI and T20I series against Pakistan in January.
