Lucknow. The presidential election has put a big dent in the opposition’s mobilization in Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, who is supporting the opposition’s joint candidate Yashwant Sinha, has again suffered a major setback on Friday. Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SubhSP) President Om Prakash Rajbhar and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PrSP) President Shivpal Singh Yadav to attend CM Yogi Adityanath’s dinner party organized in honor of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Draupadi Murmul for the post of President have arrived. Apart from these, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya has also reached.
Party boundaries were seen breaking in the capital Lucknow on Friday when opposition parties were also seen standing in the court of NDA’s presidential candidate and former Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu. Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party President Omprakash Rajbhar, who was involved in the SP alliance in honor of Murmu by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence, his uncle and SP MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav and Jansatta Dal who were angry with SP President Akhilesh Yadav. Democratic President Raghuraj Pratap Singh also reached and supported the NDA candidate. In the order of BSP President Mayawati’s announcement of support to Murmu, the lone BSP MLA Umashankar Singh also attended the dinner.
When Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate for the post of President, came to Lucknow on Thursday to seek votes, SP President Akhilesh Yadav called alliance partner RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary but did not call Subhaspa Chief Om Prakash Rajbhar. This made Rajbhar angry. He even made it seem that Akhilesh doesn’t need him anymore.
Om Prakash Rajbhar had been giving indications in the last one or two days that the alliance of SP and SubhaSP is going to break, but he will not take the initiative and will give a chance to Akhilesh to break the alliance. He said that he will wait for Akhilesh to give divorce and will not take the initiative to break the alliance from his side. Rajbhar had also said that what he will do in the presidential election will be known in time.
On the other hand, PSP President Shivpal Singh Yadav is already angry with his nephew Akhilesh Yadav. After the assembly elections, Shivpal, who was living in isolation from the Samajwadi Party, was taken by Akhilesh as the leader of the alliance partner. For Akhilesh, the blow of both Shivpal and Rajbhar together will prove to be strong. With both the leaders going to the BJP camp, it is believed to have an impact on the politics of UP.
Support of 10 MPs of opposition and same number of MLAs Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party has six MLAs in the Samajwadi Party alliance. On the other hand, the Jansatta Dal Loktantrik led by Raghuraj Pratap Singh has two MLAs. Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party President Shivpal Singh Yadav is the SP MLA from Jaswantnagar seat of Etawah. The BSP has already announced its support to Murmu. BSP has 10 MPs and one MLA.
Draupadi Murmu sought support: Draupadi Murmu reached the capital Lucknow on Friday afternoon to garner support from Uttar Pradesh for her candidature in the presidential election. In this regard, at a meeting of MPs and MLAs of BJP and its allies held at Lok Bhavan in the evening, Murmu sought support of all parties for the elections to be held on July 18 for the country’s highest constitutional post.
Uttar Pradesh will get maximum votes: Earlier, BJP’s National General Secretary Vinod Tawde introduced Murmu’s life to the MPs and MLAs in the meeting. In the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that party boundaries are seen breaking even in UP to support Murmu. He expressed confidence that Murmu would also get maximum votes from Uttar Pradesh.
Shekhawat told the process of Presidential election: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told about the process of Presidential election and the method of voting in the meeting. He said that for the Presidential election to be held on July 18, all the MPs of BJP and allies must reach Delhi and all the MLAs in Lucknow on July 16. They will be given training on voting on July 17.
