Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray has resigned as the Chief Minister of the state, putting an end to the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra. Thackeray had announced to do Facebook Live late in the evening, after which there were speculations that he may resign from the post of CM. Uddhav resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, expressing gratitude to everyone during Facebook Live. He has also announced to quit the membership of the Legislative Council. Soon after announcing his resignation on Facebook Live, he left for Raj Bhavan.
Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation to the Governor
Uddhav Thackeray went to the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai late on Wednesday and submitted the resignation of his cabinet to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Along with him, his son and cabinet minister Aditya Thackeray, cabinet minister Anil Parab from NCP quota and many senior ministers also reached Raj Bhavan.
Uddhav to act as interim chief minister
The governor has accepted the resignation. However, Uddhav Thackeray has been asked to act as chief minister (interim chief minister) till alternate arrangements are made.
