Lucknow. Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government of misusing power in the Lok Sabha bypolls to Azamgarh and Rampur. He said that the BJP government erected all the obstacles to affect the voting. The local police harassed the SP workers and forced them to vote in favor of the BJP.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav said that despite complaints made to the Election Commission of India, the election machinery remained a mute spectator at many polling stations. Despite this, the voters have done the work of defeating the BJP. He said the polling was obstructed by the police administration. Fake voting was done by capturing the polling stations. Defects in EVMs were found at several booths.
Akhilesh Yadav alleged that all the booth agents of Samajwadi Party were thrown out of the polling booths of Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency as part of a conspiracy. The BJP government is terrified of its defeat in the by-elections. In order to influence the turnout, he prevented voters from casting their votes in Swar assembly constituency of Rampur. Due to public anger, BJP seeing its sinking boat is trying to rig and tarnish fair and free elections. People have faith in the SP candidates to win by a huge margin.
At the same time, SP’s Rampur city MLA Azam Khan said that we are living with so much disgrace and humiliation in our own country, how much we are hated but who is listening. The media has also closed its eyes. Media also has a big hand in the destruction of the country.
Talking to reporters after casting his vote, he raised the issue of police misconduct. He said that so much force has been put in front of the booths and in the localities that people are not coming out out of fear. The police have locked the women coming to vote in the police stations. The police stations are full.
Azam Khan said that the police is behaving indecently with the people. So voting is getting affected. It looks like a curfew has been imposed on the streets. There is an atmosphere of panic among the people. On the question of complaint, he said that who is listening to us. The media has also closed its eyes. He even said that the media has a big hand in the destruction of the country.
