The High Court had issued this non-bailable warrant in the case of contempt. Now Ritu Maheshwari has also got a setback from the Supreme Court. In this case, the Supreme Court has refused to give interim relief to Ritu Maheshwari.
The lawyer had made this demand
A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday in the matter of non-bailable warrant issued against Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari. Maheshwari’s lawyer from the court had sought interim relief in the matter, demanding an early hearing in the matter. However, even in the Supreme Court, CEO Ritu Maheshwari did not get relief. The Supreme Court said that if you do not follow the order of the HC, then you will have to face the consequences.
What did the CJI say?
The Allahabad HC had issued a non-bailable warrant against Ritu Maheshwari for not appearing in the contempt case. In this case, Ritu’s lawyer had sought interim relief from the Supreme Court. In which the Supreme Court said that you are an IAS officer, you know the rules. At the same time, CJI NV Ramana said that every other day some officers go to the court for directions even in serious cases.
Expressing displeasure, the Supreme Court said that we are violating the orders of Allahabad HC every day. It has become a routine, every day an officer comes to the court, what is it? You don’t respect the order of the court. Let us tell you that the court had ordered to take Ritu Maheshwari in police custody and produce it in the High Court on May 13. This action was taken due to non-appearance in the court on time.
