Lucknow. To promote tourism in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, Agra, Mathura and Prayagraj, the state government will start helicopter service in these cities. Heliports will be developed in these cities to operate the helicopter service. These proposals of the tourism department were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Shastri Bhawan on Tuesday.
After the cabinet meeting, Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh told that the cabinet has decided to hand over the pucca helipad in front of the Ramabai Ambedkar site in the capital Lucknow and other facilities related to it to the tourism department from the point of view of tourism development.
This helipad will be developed as a heliport and facilities for tourists will be developed here. Heliport facility in Lucknow will improve the experience of domestic and foreign tourists. The number of tourists will increase. There will be an increase in various activities at the local level. New employment opportunities will be created.
The Tourism Minister said that the cabinet has approved the proposal to develop heliports in Agra, Mathura and Prayagraj on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Heliports in these three cities will be constructed on PPP model through private investors. Land has been identified in all the three cities for the construction of the heliport. An amount of Rs.5 crore each has also been made available.
Keeping in view the importance of heliport for connecting various tourist destinations by air and joy ride, in the first phase, the most important tourist destinations of the state are Agra, Mathura, Prayagraj and Lucknow. In the next phase, construction of helipads/heliports at other major tourist places of the state will be done as per priority.
UP State Tourism Development Corporation designated as the executive body: The cabinet has also decided to nominate the UP State Tourism Development Corporation as the executive body for works up to Rs.10 crore.
