Lucknow. Fees of private schools in UP will increase by more than 10 percent. Due to Corona, the ban imposed on the fee hike of private schools has been lifted. In the last two academic sessions, the year 2020-21 and the year 2021-22, the fees were not increased due to Kovid. Now the increase in fees from the current academic session 2022-23 will increase the burden on the pockets of the parents. Now they have to pay more fees. On January 7, 2022, in view of the possible third wave of Corona, there was a ban on increasing the fees in this session too, but now it has been removed.
Additional Chief Secretary, Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla has issued orders for fee hike. The schools have been instructed to consider the latest consumer price index for fee hike in the academic session 2022-23 as the basis and add it by increasing the fees for the year 2019-2020 by a maximum of five percent. That is, at present the Consumer Price Index is 5.06 percent and adding 5 percent to it will result in a total increase of 10.06 percent. That is, if the monthly fee of a student is Rs 1000, then it will increase by Rs 100. That is, now he will have to pay a fee of Rs 1100 per month.
Under Section-4(2) of the Uttar Pradesh Self-financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulations) Act 2018, this prescribed formula for fee hike will have to be strictly followed. Action will be taken if any school increases the fees more. If any school charges more fees then parents can complain to the District Fee Regulatory Committee. Anil Agarwal, president of Unaided Private School Association, UP has thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for lifting the ban on fee hike due to Kovid on January 7, 2022.
