The day-long dharna of Bhakiyu in Muzaffarnagar ended after about seven hours after assurance from the officials. It is alleged that late on Monday night, five people who had gone to negotiate a settlement between the hotel owner and the BKYU workers were taken to the police station by the police. According to BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, he had handed over the BKU workers to the police to get the settlement done, but the police also took five BKU workers to the police station to get the settlement done. On getting information about this, they sat on a dharna at around ten o’clock in the morning. The dharna was called off at around 5 pm on the assurance of the officials.
According to the information, after the uproar in the district hospital, BKU workers reached the residence of BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait in the night and informed him about the quarrel with the hotel owner. After that the police also reached Rakesh Tikait’s residence in the night itself. After listening to the police, he handed over the workers involved in creating ruckus in the hospital to the police. It is alleged that after that five workers reached the city Kotwali to hold talks between the two sides. The Kotwali police arrested seven and the Civil Lines police arrested three workers and sent them to jail and the five who had come for a settlement were also taken to the police station by the Kotwali police.
On Tuesday morning, BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait along with his supporters sat on a dharna for the same reason. BKYU workers also made khichdi while putting up tents in the Kotwali. At around 4.30 pm, ADM Narendra Bahadur Singh and SP City Arpit Vijay reached the Vargiya police station. He interacted with BKU leader Rakesh Tikait and others. The police officials gave only assurance about the ten activists sent to the jail that the CCTV footage would be checked. If someone is innocent, he will be given relief. However, the officials decided to release the five people detained in Kotwali and assured a fair investigation.

Before the dharna of BKIU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, seven activists who were lodged in the Kotwali were removed from the Kotwali so that there would be no ruckus. Under heavy security, the Police Station Civil Line Police and the City Kotwali Police presented all the ten workers in the court. The court has sent him to judicial custody.
BKYU workers protest at police station and toll
BKU activists shouted slogans at the police station gate demanding appropriate action by threatening BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait and investigating the culprits in the Muzaffarnagar dispute. BKU Block President Chaudhary Rajpal Singh Paniyali said that BKU is not weak enough to tolerate exploitation of farmers. He warned that if the administration does not take action against the culprit who threatened Tikait within 24 hours and ignores their demands, then on Wednesday the toll free will be made across the district.

On Tuesday, BKU workers created a ruckus at the Sivaya toll plaza located on NH-58 in Meerut on the Muzaffarnagar incident. Sivaya toll was made free for about two and a half hours. BKU workers staged a sit-in at the toll itself.
