New Delhi: In the fifth league match of IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals faced Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. In this match, Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Rajasthan made a huge total of 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. In response, in front of the brilliant bowling of Rajasthan, the Hyderabad team could score only 149 runs for 7 wickets. Rajasthan started the tournament with a massive 61-run victory.
Hyderabad’s innings, Markram’s half-century wasted
Chasing the huge target of 211 runs from the Rajasthan team, Abhishek Sharma along with captain Kane Williamson from Hyderabad came on the field. The famous Krishna achieved great success by getting Kane caught by Devdutt Padikkal on the fourth ball of his first over. In his second over, Pranali sent Rahul Tripathi back without playing an account. Trent Boult lbw Nicholas Pooran to give Rajasthan the third success, he could not even open his account.
Coming out to open the innings, Abhishek finally scored 9 runs off 19 balls and was caught by Hetmyer off Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal got his second success by dismissing Abdul Samad for 4 and Rajasthan got the 5th blow. Romario Shepherd, who was batting at one end, was sent back clean bowled by Yuji Chahal for 24 runs.
Washington Sundar, along with Aidan Markram, took over the team after the continuous fall of wickets. The 55-run partnership between these two was broken by Trent Boult. Sundar was dismissed for 40 runs in 14 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, Markram completed his half century with some good shots. He remained not out after scoring 57 off 41 balls. For Rajasthan, Chahal took three while Boult and Krishna took two wickets each.
Rajasthan Royals innings, Sanju Samson’s half-century
Opener batsman Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a 58-run partnership for the first wicket and gave the team a strong start. After this Yashasvi was dismissed for 20 by Romario Shepherd and broke this partnership. Jos Buttler, who was looking in excellent form, was dismissed for 35 by Umran Malik, giving Rajasthan a second blow. Umran Malik made Devdutt Padikkal his second victim. Malik gave his team the third success by dismissing him for 41 runs.
Sanju Samson completed his fifty by hitting a six off 25 balls. He scored 22 runs in 27 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 3 fours and was caught by Bhuvi. Hetmyer played a quick innings of 32 runs in 13 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 2 fours, but T Natarajan cleaned him up. Coulter-Nile was out after scoring one run. T Natarajan and Umran Malik took two wickets each while Bhuvi and Shepherd took one wicket each for Hyderabad.
