Lucknow. After the massive defeat of the Bahujan Samaj Party in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, party chief Mayawati has taken a tough step in the review meeting on Sunday. Mayawati has appointed three chief coordinators along with dissolving the entire executive body of BSP Uttar Pradesh.
Bahujan Samaj Party’s national president Mayawati, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has dissolved the executive of Uttar Pradesh BSP as well as made her nephew Akash Anand the national coordinator of the BSP. BSP supremo Mayawati has given Akash Anand a big responsibility.
Mayawati dissolved the entire executive body of Uttar Pradesh BSP except the state president and district president. He has appointed three chief coordinators for Uttar Pradesh. All the coordinators of the state will report to Munkad Ali of Meerut, Rajkumar Gautam of Bulandshahr and Vijay Kumar of Azamgarh. All three of these will keep an eye on the coordinator. With this, the BSP has also made the leader of the legislature party, Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali, return home. It is believed that Guddu Jamali will be made the BSP candidate in the Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-election.
Bahujan Samaj Party’s national president Mayawati’s concern had increased a lot after she won only Ballia’s Rasra out of 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. On Sunday, he took a big step during a meeting in Lucknow with all the candidates as well as the top office bearers of the party. Mayawati dissolved the executive of Uttar Pradesh. Not only this, three Chief Coordinators have also been appointed. Now the three Chief Coordinators will keep an eye on the other Coordinators. Mayawati declared Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali as BSP candidate for Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-election during the meeting itself.
Bahujan Samaj Party has re-inducted Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali, the leader of the Legislature Party, who left the party before the assembly elections. Guddu Jamali was the AIMIM candidate from Mubarakpur in Azamgarh in the assembly elections. AIMIM’s Guddu Jamali was the only candidate who has got bail. Now BSP is preparing to field him in the Lok Sabha by-election from Azamgarh. The Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after the resignation of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Sector in-charge, district president, all the candidates of assembly elections, BAMCEF and brotherhood committee convenor were also present in the meeting at the BSP’s state office under the chairmanship of Mayawati. The BSP, which formed the government in Uttar Pradesh with 206 seats in 2007, got 80 seats in 2012 and 19 in 2017. After this the party got only one seat in 2022. In 2007, SP got 97 seats, BJP got 51 and Congress got 22 seats. The ever-decreasing graph of BSP is becoming a cause of great concern for party chief Mayawati.
After the assembly elections 2022, now questions have started arising about the existence of BSP. In this election, their vote percentage has also come down to 13 percent. The BSP, which has achieved the status of a national party, will come to this stage in its largest support state, UP, the party did not think that. Now questions have started being raised on Mayawati’s leadership and her advisors, strategists. In view of this, it is being claimed that Mayawati can reduce the stature of many veterans in the party. Not only this, on the basis of the complaints received continuously, many leaders can also be shown the way out. Mayawati is taking feedback from booth level leaders, in which it has emerged that she has not got the support of big leaders.
Continuous neglect of cadre: It is believed that Mayawati can now activate nephew Akash Anand in UP. There were speculations that Akash was to be brought to the fore during the UP elections itself. During this time he was confined to Punjab and Uttarakhand. The BSP has been a party of cadre base workers, but the cadre has been continuously ignored in the last few years. To overcome this displeasure of the workers, Mayawati can restart the cadre and will try to build the party afresh. Even the big pundits of politics are quite surprised to be reduced to just one assembly seat in the elections of Bahujan Samaj Party. BSP, which fielded its candidate in 403 assembly constituency, got victory only in Rasra seat of Ballia. Umashankar Singh, who was the leader of the BSP Legislature Party, has won from Rasra for the third time in a row.
To review the reasons for the party’s poor performance, BSP chief Mayawati called not only one winning MLA but also 402 lost candidates and party office bearers in the meeting. In addition to reviewing the reasons, Mayawati called a meeting at the BSP state headquarters on Sunday to re-establish the party for the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the year 2024.
