Lucknow. Samajwadi Party workers on Tuesday created a ruckus in Varanasi, alleging that the EVMs were secretly transported without informing the political parties and candidates. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also made serious allegations of theft of votes on the government and put the workers on the monitoring of EVMs. At the same time, the situation was clarified on this by the Election Commission late night. Claimed that the EVMs used for voting are sealed and secure. The ruckus created by the political party workers by stopping the EVMs was kept separately for training.
The Election Commission has said that it has been brought to the notice by some media channels that some electronic voting machines were being carried in vehicles in Varanasi, which was objected to by the political representatives present there. As per the report sent by the District Election Officer, it was found during the investigation that these EVMs were marked for training. Training has been organized on Wednesday for the training of counting officers in the district, for which EVMs were being brought from the storage in a separate food godown located in the mandi to the training site at UP College. The counting of votes on Wednesday is the second training of the staff and these machines are always used for hands-on training.
Some political people have spread rumors by stopping the vehicle and calling them EVMs used in elections. The commission has claimed that all the EVMs used for voting are sealed inside the strong room and are protected under a three-tier security cover of central paramilitary forces. These machines are completely isolated and safe. It has CCTV surveillance. These are being continuously monitored round the clock by the representatives of all political parties, candidates through CCTV. The representatives of political parties were also informed about this by the District Election Officer, Varanasi.
